Eckman
& Mitchell Construction was first established in the early 1950's
by a man named Harvey Eckman. Harvey first ran a lumberyard and later
decided to go into residential construction. In the beginning the
company was known as Harvey W. Eckman & Sons. The business started
with the main focus on building residential homes but quickly transitioned
into constructing service stations throughout the United States maintaining
positive relationships with clients.
In 1970 Gary L. Eckman, the son of Harvey, became the president of
the company which evolved into what is now known as Eckman & Mitchell
Construction. Gary became involved in the construction industry as
a young boy operating heavy equipment and doing some rough carpentry
in his father's company. Through the years he progressed to Superintendent,
Project Manager, and then the President of the company. Gary decided
in the 70's that he would like to change the kind of construction
the company was doing and focus on commercial construction. Eckman
& Mitchell was the first company in the state of Utah to do tilt-up
construction. |

Currently
Gary L. Eckman is the Managing Member along with four other partial
owners. Those owners are: Tom Mitchell, Eric Eckman, Rex Pearson,
and Curtis Padjen. Every one of the owners started in the field as
a carpenter or laborer and worked their way to the top. Tom Mitchell
started on the concrete crew in 1970 and by 1983 he was Project Director/Owner.
Eric Eckman started in 1975 on the concrete crew and in 1980 became
Superintendent/Owner. Rex Pearson was a carpenter in 1951 and became
General Superintentent/Owner in 1985. Curtis Padjen also started as
a laborer and became Head Estimator/Owner in 1986. |
Our
company is currently a member of the Associated General Contractors
of America (AGC). We believe it is important to support the industry
we are so heavily involved in and contribute any knowledge we have
that may benefit other companies.
We are a team in this business and operate as such. Many individuals
make up our company and help us provide the best service to our
clients. We have a great field department, project management, estimating,
accounting, and general office staff that participate and help one
another in a pleasant atmosphere. In accordance,
we have the ability and desire to go far in this industry and believe
that we have and will continue to do so.
